Easter is a very special holiday for many Americans as well as other nations across the world. Originally and still a Christian holiday it has now moved on to be a holiday that is based around family, friends, eggs, and bunnies. Whether you are celebrating as Christians or just for the Easter bunny realm of the holiday there are many different food items and ideas that can make it a very special year for you and your family. Easter is a family holiday for most families and revolves around egg hunts, food, family, and togetherness. Compiling easy to make dinners for the day can be done if you know what to do and how many people you will be feeding. The day of course begins with breakfast. Today the more common item is cereal and frozen waffles, but if you are more the type that loves to make homemade meals then you may want to take a different route. The easiest meal you could make that will still have a nice homemade feel would be some nice semi-homemade waffles or pancakes. Buying a box of pancake mix and some fresh fruit leaves you with only a few steps to a wonderful sit down breakfast. Mix the pancake mix as directed and chop some fresh strawberries or throw in some fresh blueberries and you will have some wonderfully tasty pancakes or waffles in only a few steps. If you would like to go even farther buy some applesauce and add it to the mix instead of the water or milk it calls for on the box. You can even go as far, if you have time and the desire, to make your own homemade syrup to go with your breakfast. This can be easily done by adding one cup of sugar to half a cup of boiling water. Simmer the mixture until it is syrupy and all the sugar is melted. Add some almond, vanilla, or butter flavoring/extract to the syrup and you can sit down to some traditional home made fixings for your pancakes or waffles. Another great idea instead of adding flavorings or extract to your syrup is to throw in some diced strawberries, cut blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries to make the syrup fruit flavored. Remove the fruit with a strainer when the syrup has become the color of the fruit and now you have some absolutely tasty syrup that you can brag about to everyone.
