There are several traditional luaus in Lahaina, Maui. Most notable is the Old Lahaina Luau that has served visitors for many years, as its name indicates. It is held near the shore in the heart of the town. The luau begins with a lei greeting, Mai Tais from the open bar and is followed by a sumptuous buffet dinner. After the patrons have eaten, there is a Polynesian review with native dancers, singers, drummers and musicians.
Along the coast, at mile marker fifteen, there is excellent snorkeling. Snorkeling equipment is rented at many places in Lahaina, so you can go on your own. There are excellent snorkeling expeditions to other nearby islands as well. Most tours include the snorkeling gear as part of the ticket price. Some also include food of some kind.
In Lahaina, Maui, you can find visitors in catamarans out on the ocean whale watching. You can only participate in this activity during the season when the whales draw closer to Maui. With these tours, usually soft drinks are provided and there is a naturalist onboard who provides education about the humpback whales you are viewing.
Atlantis Submarines in Lahaina provides a journey aboard an air-conditioned sixty-five-foot sub so you can experience Maui’s underwater world firsthand. The submarine descends to depths of one hundred twenty-five feet where you will see a variety of exotic tropical fish, coral gardens, and marine life.
