The following is the opinion of the author and does not represent the opinion of Associated Content or the Obama for President campaign.

An essential component of leadership is to bring people together for a common purpose. A corollary to this essential component is the ability to inspire. The underpinning for the various attributes that flow from these components is trust and admiration. I am an unabashed supporter of Barack Obama. My initial support has only strengthened over the past several weeks. In fact, several weeks ago I thought I could support Senator Clinton if she became the ultimate winner for the Democratic Party. I am neither Republican or Democrat. I have neither the time, money or necessary mind set to be a party-person.

What Went Wrong?

In my opinion, it started with former President Bill Clinton reckless comments about Senator Obama's experience. Adding to that was Senator Clinton exaggerating her experience in the White House as First Lady. There is a significant difference between brokering a peace agreement in Ireland and attending a tea party in Belfast to show sympathy for their plight. As I recall, it was George Mitchell from the Great State of Maine who along with others negotiated a peace agreement in Ireland. See: Nobel Prize Winner: Hillary Clinton's "Silly" Irish Peace Claims http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/08/wuspols108.xml

This was followed by Hillary's Mr. Wolfson, who essentially stated Mrs. Clinton and Mr. McCain have the most experience. Okay, experience, but what kind of experience. Field visits to Iraq and the region. Planned and rehearsed meetings with designated persons under the control of the military. Mr. Wolfson sings the praise of Senator McCain who twice misspoke about Al Qaeda influence in Iran. Senator Lieberman former VP Democratic candidate had to whisper in his ear the error.

Great article and interesting debate in the comments sections. I am happy to have discovered your work, a compendium which ranges from politics to chicken soup... you are truly a Renaissance woman (or a Gemini!).

Don't forget--the Church of Christ is just another church controlled by the IRS. 501(c)3 tax exempt. Not allowed to argue with what's going on.

I regret you see my comment as being pessimistic. It is the strength of our differences that brought about innovation, medical advances and an economic system unmatched in modern society. Skepticism in too much power, abuse of power and down right chicanery is both a blessing and a curse. I am proud of our heritage. Our universities and medical schools have important work to complete. We cannot fix the levies, cure disease and provide a quality life for our citizens if we are spending trillions of dollars in reparation for ill-conceived wars. Check your old text books-what did Jefferson, Washington, Eisenhower and every other statesman say about war. Regards always

Mary Anne, the argument you put forth in your comment to mine is the glass half full/half empty argument. You see the US as a glass half-empty. I see it as the glass half-full. I would never deny there are problems that need addressing, but again, I look to our greatness and progress as a nation and all the good we have done, despite our mistakes. The glass half-empty crowd sees our nation as a never ending litany of wrong and misguidance. To do so is to ignore the good, just as if I were to deny the negative would be unfair and inaccurate. Look around you. We ain't perfect, but we are closer to it then any other nation has managed, especially given we are a nation of immigrants. Only completely insular societies have done as well, and the US is clearly not insular. That fact and the 300 million Heinz 57 Americans demonstrates our greatness. I hope you will someday see that.

Basing your opinion of Barack Obama on less than 10 minutes of his Pastor's 30+ years delivering sermons is not a methodology taught by any University in North Carolina. Conversations about what divides us and our common goals strengthens our diverse nation. I am proud that our country has now at last realized the vision of my North Carolina-Virginia ancestors, George Mason , John Quincy Adams and Thomas Jefferson for the principles outlined in the Bill of Rights. If his clear and discerning judgment had been exercised some five years ago, we as a nation would not have expended trillion of dollars, loss of lives and untold damage based on skewed intelligence. Now we are State Troopers on the streets of Baghdad dodging explosive devices in a country that wants us to leave. Are you suggesting we as a nation can continue a domestic and foreign policy based on fear and vengeance. Our great nation cannot endure if we continue down this path. If you want to be really offended

I am not offended as a white person, I'm offended as an American. Rev, Wright has the right to say whatever he wishes and i support that right no matter how incorrect, ill-advised and racially charged his words. But Obama spoke at a podium the other day that had a placard attached to the front. It said "Judgment to lead." I'm afraid anyone with high political aspirations needs the judgment to not sit in the pews listening to that garbage for 20 years. And then his admission that he initially LIED about being present when Wright said such things, and his admission that he LIED about how much money Rezko gave him all show that he does not have the judgment to lead. Poor choice of words on his part, the placard and his untruths, as well as his 'recent "typical white person" comment. Judgment? Based on what we are seeing and hearing, yeah - damned poor judgment.
