While you may be focusing on getting into a bathing suit this summer, there's another warm weather staple that will haunt you first. The winter clothes you've been sporting for months are making their way to the back of the closet, and slowly you feel yourself rapidly approaching the season where we must all bare more than we'd like in order to stay remotely cool. It doesn't matter, though. You've got months before you have to get into a bathing suit, right? Maybe, but what about the other part of summer attire that so many of us dread...the tank top? That one comes out much sooner than bathing suits do, and all too often we realize it too late. Once spring hits, it's time to start thinking about pulling them out on the weekends. Not quite ready yet? That's perfectly fine, because in this article you'll find a quick, three week long program that will whip that upper body into shape.

One of the fastest methods of upper body toning you'll ever find is that dreaded, old fashioned push-up. No one does them anymore because there are so many machines out there that are easier to use for upper body toning, but none of them come close to the original. If you find that you cannot do more than five, or more than one for that matter, start out with the modified push-up (once known as the "girl" push-up). Yes, guys can do the modified form, too. Do as many push-ups in the regular form as you can, and then finish by doing the rest in the modified form until you hit thirty. It only takes a few minutes a day, and it will dramatically tone your arms and shoulders. If you want to work on that tummy, too, suck it in just a bit so that your gut is as level as possible during this exercise. This is the most important part of the three week tank top boot camp program. Do not neglect your push-ups!

Takeaways
  • Use light free weights to tone your arms three times a week.
  • Do those old fashioned push-ups every single day. They work!
  • Supplement this routine with yoga or similar stretching exercises.
