Based on the reading and research that has been conducted on the brain and learning, there are many instructional factors that need to be considered as one plans for reading and writing activities. These instructional factors include the following: 1. The first instructional factor that is important to be considered is social interaction. After learning how important it is for students to learn and work with one another, educators should definitely plan reading and writing activities that allow students to work together.
2. The second instructional factor that must be considered when planning reading and writing activities is the use of rewards. Teachers need to create activities that promote intrinsic motivation so that students will feel motivated to do well without any type of extrinsic motivation. This means that teachers need to create reading and writing activities that are authentic and real world that incorporate the interests of my students.
3. The third instructional factor that should be considered when planning reading and writing activities is to allow time for students to receive feedback from the teacher as well as students so that they can use other people's opinions to improve their work. It will also help them to understand their strengths and weaknesses as learners.
4. The fourth instructional factor that must be considered when planning reading and writing activities is to find out how novel certain critical thinking skills are to students for the purpose of planning proper time intervals of instruction. Since research shows that it is best to teach in short intervals when the content is difficult and new, educators must make sure to plan accordingly.
