The Guitar Hero Era
Why Do More People Play Guitar Hero on a Daily Basis Than Actual Guitars?
Guitar Hero and Rock Band are both extremely popular versions of this type of game. Guitar Hero has been around for much longer, so naturally, more people have it and have heard of it.
Guitar Hero uses popular songs like Carry on My Wayward Son, Through the Fire and the Flames, Stricken, and over a hundred others (between the three releases of the games.)
So what makes these games addicting? The fact that you progress through them, get better, and you actually feel like you're playing the songs on the instruments! It's amazing feeling to become good at something that resembles playing a guitar or just beating the drums along with your favorite songs.
People tend to start playing Guitar Hero at a level which only uses 3 different keys on the guitar out of the 5, and then they move up. With each addition of a new key, the notes are moving faster and the playing level is becoming much more skillful. It's amazing to watch some people play this game, because they can play some of the hardest songs on the hardest level of play, which is expert.
At least 1 in every 3 of my friends owns at least one guitar hero game and at least one guitar for it. Most of my friends have the newest, and at least one guitar, and a ton of my friends like to play guitar hero at parties, events, etc. That's how popular it is! It's one of the only games to be used at different-sex parties, even parties with adults!
You would really have to play Guitar Hero to get a feeling for it, once you play it a few times, most become addicted and are constantly wanting to get better and have a blast playing it.
The instruments in Rock Band are much more numerous than those of guitar hero. In Rock Band, you can play lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, and vocals. This is why most people really prefer Rock Band.
The only reason Rock Band hasn't already outran Guitar Hero is because first of all, it's for the same system. Second of all, Rock Band is quite costly, and no one has had enough time to buy it yet because it's still relatively new, as to where the Guitar Hero series has been out for years.
