Claire Bennett learned something today; she can walk through fire and not get burned. Hiro Nakamura learned something today; by concentrating hard enough, he can make time stop, and maybe more. Isaac Mendez learned something today; he can paint the future. Matt Parkman learned something today; he can read people’s thoughts. Niki Sanders learned something today; her mirror reflection has a secret.

These characters and more have all learned something incredible: they are ordinary people with the ability to do extraordinary things.

Thank you for sharing this article. I however think that the show is tooooooo slow. 1 hour and I hardly learn anything new :(

Thanks for your comments, Hiro (any relations to Mr. Nakamura?) I understand the complaint with Niki's abilities; however, remember that we still have yet to see the full extent of any of the heroes' abilities. I'm sure Niki's goes further than just a personality disorder; remember Jean Grey-vs-The Phoenix (though I hate to perpetually draw these similarity points between "Heroes" and "X-Men")

Last night we saw Niki Sanders "power" come out. She was one person, then she became another person and beat a guy up. While it was slightly good acting, I think she was just playing someone with multiple personalities. Since when is mental illness a superpower?

Thanks for your comment, Barefoot! That's certainly what I'm hoping for. And I'm sure a lot of criticism may arise in days to come, perhaps already have, about the show's apparent similarity-- or, what some would call blatant copying-- of other superhero classics (namely, X-men, and more recently "The 4400"); however, it's important to note that writer/creator Tim Kring has already established that in the creation of this series, he needed to note two things: 1) He was not a comic book hero reader, and needed to consult comic book writers to determine how to go about creating these figures, and 2) He did not read any comic books/superhero related books during the writing of this series, just to ensure that if any similarities DID exist, he could honestly say they were coincidental! CHEERS! :)

I caught the opener replay on the Sci-Fi channel. This one does look like a winner. My first thoughts were that it's a poor-man's Fantastic Four, but Khara, you're right when you say it's about the characters. They will make the show. This may be a reason for me to get Tivo.

If you missed the premiere, you can check it out (for free) at NBC.com or download it now on iTunes ($1.99)! Thanks again for the comments and your votes! (PS-- to Ben J.-- I like Ali Larter, too . . .though I'm guessing we're talking in different ways!) :) CHEERS!
