The energy and excitement of little boys is impossible to harness, and very difficult to express. Very often, I would walk into my son's room with it's bare white walls and feel a bit disappointed because the room didn't match him at all. My son is vibrant, funny, and very silly - and his room was flat, boring and bland. One weekend, he woke up and, out of the blue, asked if we could paint his bedroom. I had never painted anything - certainly not a whole room- so I was a bit overwhelmed by his request; a tiny thought, however, kept flashing in the back of my mind: Paint is CHEAP. I could redo his entire room for less than $50.00, and we could have fun doing it. Best of all, he would love his room and it would really reflect the special, crazy character that he is. Since then, we've been through a few "bedroom makeovers." As he grows up, his tastes change and, naturally, he wants his room to change. With paint, making a major change is simple (and still cheap!).

I've found the best selection of paint, help, and advice at Sherwin-Williams. They have great online tools that allow you to virtually "paint" your room so that you can view different color combinations. They also have comprehensive sections with help and detailed instructions for every paint trick in the book. Have no idea what you are doing? They have Painting 101, a virtual class that will have you painting like a pro in no time. Love faux finishing? They have an entire section on it with more cool options than you ever thought existed. Have you ever looked at paint chips and fallen in love, only to discover that it looks dreadful in your house? In the store, they offer "Color To Go" samples - small paint sample cans that allow you to cover 75 square feet of wall, so that you will really know how your paint will look! Your options are limitless at Sherwin-Williams.

My son's room has gone through several transformations. Our favorite, however, is the Spiderman room.
