The Dynasty Warrior developers needs to call it a day and admit the quality of these
games will remain about the same. Dynasty Warriors 6 is the latest entry in the series, and it further accentuates why this franchise is abysmal. When it comes down to it, everything is virtually identical to
the previous banal installments. The storyline revolves around these group of people that want to do something vaguely dubious. It is safe to say that the plot dreadful across the board and nonexistent. The gameplay boils down to a rudimentary button masher that is truly awful. Finding variety within the combat sy
stem is as rare as discovering a needle in a haystack. Dynasty Warriors 6 is more of the same, and it has been that way since its inception. There are some insignificant additions every now and then, but the core stays the same. Since rapidly tapping the buttons is the main focal point, gamers will be accomplishin
g that dreadful task at an alarming rate. There is a basic attack, power maneuver, and magic (or as it is refereed to in the
game Musou). The basic move is a traditional set of strikes that are swift but powerless, power moves can are slow but overpowering hits that crush adversaries' defenses, and magic is like a specialized assault.
Musou is the most damaging as it can potentially extricate yourself from an
onslaught of foes. With that being said, Musou can be utilized only when the bar is at maximum capacity. The Musou gauge is replenished with a few seconds, so there is seldom a moment where it is implausible to unleash the effectiveness of this devastation. Combination moves are absent, and the only aspect to note is the leveling up mechanic via experience that is earned. The only conspicuous alteration in Dynasty Warriors 6 has to do with the Renbu meter. Think of this Renbu indicator as a combo measuring device that is seen in the
Devil May Cry games. In other words, more kills will translate to a higher Renbu. Impeding the chain of attack will drastically decrease the Renbu. As a result, it is a bright idea to keep the pressure on and do not give the opponents a chance to retaliate. There is no counterattack method; there are no hidden weapon; there is no
training tutorial or simulation mode; there is not much of anything. Th
e controls lack any sense of depth, and they even be downright unresponsive. In total, there are approximately forty warriors to choose from, but their styles are intrinsically the same. Another original gameplay features entail the ability to swim in water and climb up and down ladders. The minimal amount of elation is palpable. The audio has to be the most flawed e
lement. It is laborious to decipher if the voice acting was intentionally made to be laughable or if it was just another
game design blunder. Either way you look at it, the dialogue is egregious all around. This is further exacerbated when they repeatedly say this utterly ridiculous catch phrases throughout the battles. On the other hand, the sound effects are adequate. Nonetheless, the
music is tragically unbearable. The visuals are a disaster. It does not
appear to have next generation written anywhere on it. Environment are poorly rendered, and the character models are bizarrely horrific. Texture popping is yet another issue with the
art direction. Overall, Dynasty Warriors 6 is exactly what players have come to expect from KOEI. There are no surprises here at all.
