The admission fee for the park is $3.00 at the gate. There is an additional fee of $2.00 to enter the fort itself. Camping for one day is at $25.00.
After paying at the gift and camping gear shop, it is a short walk to the draw bridge out front of the fort.
On top of the walls of the fort, there are very large cannons placed all around facing the St. Mary's River.
Through the front gate of the fort, you are greeted by a canon placed in the middle of the parade, pointing down the gate at you.
Looking at the bricks that the fort is made of, you can see some restoration has had to be done, but it looks like most of the original brick work remains. The forts architecture is beautiful, and looks complicated to construct.
Up on the top wall next to the canons, a great view of the mouth of the St. Mary's River can be seen. Boats of all kinds can be seen entering in and out of the river, along with other boats anchored down to fish. Since a active Navy base is near by, sometimes submarines can be seen entering the mouth of the St Mary's river from the top of "Fort Clinch".
There is plenty of fishing at "Fort Clinch State Park". People fish out front of the fort on its beach, and there are many public peers on the park grounds. Some of the peers are on the ocean, and others are on the river.
The park has many camping grounds, from the woods to the beach. There is RV camping, and tent camping grounds. There are public shower and bathrooms on the grounds, making it a comfortable place to come and camp. Since the Fort is close to historic town and the beach, there is places to see other than the park grounds themselves.
"Fort Clinch" also has bicycle trail that goes along the road towards the fort. This trail can be entered from the parking lot of the fort, and it goes all the way back up to the entrance, and over to the other side coming back to the fort.
