Radiant floor heating is a great new alternative to cold tile, icy driveways. The Radiant floor heating systems is installed under the floor and is controlled by a thermostat. Radiant flooring originally came from the idea of heated driveways. Having lived overseas, I have and am currently having the privilege of having Radiant flooring in my home. Even though the heated flooring concept is rather new in the west, people in the Far East have been making use of Radiant flooring for generations. Counties such as Japan and Korea have heated Radiant flooring in just about every house and every apartment. Even though it has taken the United States quite some time to catch onto the concept of Radiant flooring, it is beginning to spread like wildfire.

There are three types of Radiant floor heating systems that I am aware of. The first Radiant floor heating system that I am familiar with is known as “Electric Radiant Floors.” The Electric Radiant Floors do a wonderful job of heating your home.
However, the Electric Radian Floor is by far the most expensive way to go about getting heated flooring for your home.

The Hydronic Floor or the “Liquid Floor” is another type of Radiant Floor Heating System. The Hydronic Floor is much more cost effective for those looking to heat their homes for a much lower cost than those who are looking into having the Electric form of Radiant flooring. Liquid floors are used far more frequently in residential homes in the United States, because homes in the United States are generally much larger than those homes, mentioned above, in Korea or Japan.

The Radiant Air Floor is the third, and the final, type of Radiant Floor Heating. The Radiant Air Floor does not heat an area near as well as the two previously mentioned forms of heated flooring. However, the Radiant Air Floor is ideal for heating larger commercial buildings at a much lower price than the other two options. The Radiant Air Floor is rarely found in residential homes.
