The HoMedics TE-101 Deluxe Large Readout One Second Ear Thermometer with Infratemp Technology is a quick, simple product for taking anyone's temperature. The product costs $40 which is an average price for an electric thermometer.

The HoMedics thermometer gives accurate readings even though it takes its measurement from the ear. Keep in mind, the normal body temperature in the ear is not the same as the normal 98.6 degrees in the mouth. It will be a little lower. The thermometer has a memory feature that holds up to ten past temperature recordings. This is nice for trying to track a child's temperature to see if it is climbing or dropping to monitor their progress.

I use this product all the time on my 8 month old baby. There is no way I could get her to hold a thermometer under her tongue so using her ear is perfect. The product can take the temperature in one second so it does not disturb her enough to wake her up. This is great because once you get a sick baby to sleep you definitely do not want to wake them up again. The thermometer has a night mode where the screen lights up in a dim blue color. This way, you can see what you are doing and not wake up the baby. There is a built in LED flashlight for lining up the thermometer with the ear canal.

The thermometer is round and comfortable to hold in your hand. I feel comfortable using it without the risk of stabbing the ear drum. The read out is large so it is easy to see while it is still in the ear.

The product has a fever alarm with audio and visual alerts if the temperature is too high. This is nice since sometimes it is hard to remember what the ear temperature should be.

The antibacterial tip is easy to clean if you plan to use the thermometer on more than one person. I use the thermometer on myself if I feel a little under the weather. I also prefer it over a normal tongue thermometer because it is so much faster. Trying to hold a thermometer in your closed mouth when you can barely breathe out of your nose is no fun.
