In real life, Leonowens wrote two books about her life in Siam and romance with King Mongkut. Margaret Landon later used Leonowen's books for the novel Anna and The King of Siam. The love story inspired a movie with Rex Harrison, and a Broadway play, a movie, and a television series with Yul Brynner.
