The more and more that I start to think about what it is that I am eating and what it is that I am cooking with the more I realize that there are such better products that can be used. I use to use corn oil for everything but after learning that extra virgin olive oil is better for you I decided to get that instead. I was a bit hesitant at first to buy my first bottle of extra virgin olive oil as it was a lot more expensive than the corn oil. However I decided to go a head and get a bottle of Star Extra Virgin Olive Oil.If I remember correctly the cost of Star Extra Virgin Olive was around fourteen dollars for a two liter bottle. Although I will admit that this seems like a lot of money for oil, I have to admit that I think that the oil turned out to be worth every penny. It does not take very much oil and I have had the bottle for many months but still have well over half of it left. I like to use it when I make stir-fry, when I make jojos and I now use in my pizza dough and on the pizza pan instead of butter. I tried it in my Honey Walnut Granola, but in efforts to save money I am still using corn oil for my granola. The bottle has a very useful handle so it is a breeze to pour and easy to not pour too much. As much as it cost I don't want to waste any.
According to the bottle, the extra virgin olive oils are high quality and from Spain, Italy, Greece and Tunisia. Considering that the oils have to travel so far I think that makes the price a little bit more understandable. I also discovered that you want to store it where it will be away from heat and light, so I would not store it near the stove and instead in a cabinet that was far away from the stove so that it would not get too hot.
I plan on getting the Star Extra Virgin Olive Oil until I can afford to get organic extra virgin olive oil. Until then I will enjoy the taste that it offers to my vegetables, my pizza dough and my jojos. I would happily recommend it to anyone who wanted to try extra virgin olive oil.
