The scrunch effect is becoming a popular hairstyle. I have the straightest, dullest hair you can imagine but scrunching looks great on my hair and actually works. Scrunching is so much easier than spending an aggravating hour with a curling iron only to have my hair go flat 15 minutes later. If you are tired of flat hair, you should give this a try!

If you are like me with straight, "undo-able" hair, here is how you too can get that great scrunch look. I find the shorter the hair, the easier this hairstyle is to do. Of course, it helps if you have some natural curls, but it is not a necessity. This hairstyle looks great on my shoulder length hair.

Get your hair wet, I usually do this by hopping in the shower, but a sink will do just fine. Towel dry your hair lightly but do not blow dry. You will need wet hair when you style it. I have tried to do this with dry hair and it just creates a mess, trust me.

Once hair is towel dried start by applying a generous amount of hair gel into work hair. Make sure to work it in good. Dried clumps of hair gel are never good. While you are putting in the gel, scrunch you hair. I usually start at the bottom and scrunch it towards my scalp using my hands.

Do not brush you hair at this point, it will take out all the style. You can use a wide toothed comb to separate stands if needed but I find fingers work gets as usual and even better to a "messy" hair-do.

Once you have the hair gel in and you have is scrunched the way you would like it then gently spray hair spray over top. My hair is super straight so it usually takes a couple of sprays to get this look just right.

The style will come out great if you let it air dry but you can also blow-dry it. Just avoid using a hairbrush because this will undo the scrunching. Once hair is dry, I usually spray it once more for added hold. This style can last all day but does leave a lot of residue in hair so make sure to wash it all out.

Enjoy your new hairstyle and flaunt it. For me it quite a change from my normally dull hair. I love this funky, fun hairstyle. It fits me perfectly; I am wild and crazy just like my hairstyle.

Nice! I too suffer from hair that won't hold curls after 15 minutes.

Wow! Great fashion tips. I have natural curls to the point of kinks: but, I've done this style, and it works well or me. Rather than the kinky ringlets, it looks beautiful! I gave you a five point vote, not only for the helpful tips to other women but also for how well it was written.
