Specialized Tarmac Pro Double Race Bike

A great all-around racer, the Specialized Tarmac Pro Double is the kind of race bike that doesn't scream for attention. Well, maybe its wheels do. This all carbon road race bike is the sort of mid-range racer that no rider could be truly dissatisfied with either on their weekly club ride, or on the last sprint toward first place. The Tarmac Pro Double race bike hosts as many technical innovations over other brands of bike that it's a wonder that Specialized has more powerful bikes. Incidentally, that bike is found only among the Specialized S-works branded race bikes, which will cost you considerably more than the Tarmac Pro Double's $4000 asking price.

Specialized built the Tarmac Pro Double using their FACT 8r Az1 carbon construction to give the Pro Double race bike the light weight and rigid strength that road racers demand. Also to keep weight down, Specialized fitted the Tarmac Pro Double with a FACT monocoque carbon fork with full carbon legs, crown, and steerer. All this works together to create an insanely fast, ridiculously light racer. Many other parts on this bike are carbon, as well, including the headset, handlebar, and crankset, reducing weight overall by using Specialized carbon parts.

Specialized uses Shimano components to make up the largest portion of the component set on the Tarmac Pro Double, including front and rear brakes, brake levers, front and rear derailleurs, shift levers, and chain. SRAM supplies the cassette freewheel with its OG-1070 and the rims are Roval Fusee Star Alloy with Royal Fusee Star hubs and Specialized Mondo Pro tires. The saddle is a Body Geometry Toupe Team with a microfiber cover, carbon reinforced base and hollow Titanium rails.
