Top Classic NES Titles for the Game Boy Advance

In celebration to the 20th Anniversary of the release of Famico (known as NES in North America) in Japan, Nintendo released a line of Famico games emulated on the Game Boy Advance. Less than half of the titles managed to travel overseas for a domestic U.S. release. They were known as the Classic NES titles. Keep in mind the NES was the console where many of the most recognizable video game franchises started. It is the virtual who-who's of the gaming industry. Here are the top five Classic NES titles for the Gameboy Advance.

5. Excitebike
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: Nintendo, Original Release Date: 1985, ESRB Rating: E
Excitebike is one of the few racing game that did it right in the early days of gaming. Playing solo or against computer-controlled opponents, the objective of this Classic NES title is to race against the time by overcoming certain obstacles on the tracks. Although the game only contains five tracks total, it was one of the select few games to come with a level editor. Excitebike was truly a revolutionary racing game.

4. Castlevania
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: Konami, Original Release Date: 1987, ESRB Rating: E

No other classic series is arguably as consistent as Castlevania in maintaining quality. It all started with the original on the NES. As a vampire hunter, you fight your way through countless demonic creatures in order to get to the dramatic final showdown with Dracula. Thanks to the sequels maintaining the same solid mechanics throughout the years, veterans Castlevania gamers should be able to jump right in and feel quite comfortable with the original classic.

3. Metroid
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: Nintendo, Original Release Date: 1987, ESRB Rating: E
Another classic 2D action title for the NES is Metroid. Samus' first adventure was quite a thrill ride when it came out back in the day. Metroid is all about is non-linear, power-up based gameplay. As you progress through the game, certain parts will open up once you acquire a new power-up. This reward system made this Classic NES title infinitely more addicting as players try to explore every nook and cranny.
