NOTE: This is one of the most poorly written posts I've found since I've been going back through my archived content and posting it here on AC. The main point of this post was to demonstrate a possible double standard between one person saying "Pro-Black" versus someone else saying "Pro-White", and it seems I went off on some wild tangent as I was initially writing this. Just say'n,,,, Shawn.

A long time ago in an online interracial group forum I used to subscribe to, an individual brought up a topic discussing the expression "Pro-Black". Well, these are two words that when put together spell something that sounds racist in my mind, but their basic interpretation of "Pro-Black" was being proud of who you are, proud of your race and heritage, your history, etc. But when I twist this up and say "Pro-White", it sounded very racist to me.

Well, anyways, I got thinking about this while I was out walking one night. "Race" can be a very sensitive conversation topic to talk about in a crowd and I find that I'm more comfortable talking about it one on one because then there's typically no competitive banter and nobody is out to attack anyone else's character and mislabel them a racist. It's been my experience in many Black Women and White Men interracial forums that there's a lot of racial imbalance in the atmosphere which usually tilts more towards "black". For reasons I'm intentionally withholding from this particular post, this sense of imbalance doesn't seem to happen as much in a one on one conversation with a mature minded person.

"Pro-Black". These two words put together really are problematic for me and I asked a friend if she felt "Pro-White" sounded a little "KKK-ish" and she agreed it did. Depending on your perspective, this can come across as quite a double standard.

Takeaways
  • I asked a friend if she felt "Pro-White" sounded a little "KKK-ish"
  • There's a lot of racial imbalance in many BwWm forums which usually tilts more towards black.
  • So what you're saying is you have a problem with women who've been with several men?
