The alarm goes off and I slowly ooze out of bed.
I hang onto my sheets
like the honey i'll later pour into my tea
clings to the inside of the bottle.
I attempt to fight the inevitable.

A busted blind allows far too much like to seep into the room
like the sun is screaming at me to wake.

I slowly make my way to the bathroom
stumbling over dirty laundry
like a drunk does his own feet.
The door knob breaks my fall.

I reach for my toothbrush
the bristles lined up like a tiny army
soldiers ready to attack my defenseless teeth.
Simultaneously falling down onto the shag cover of the toilet
like leaning back into a field of uncut grass.

My brain isn't capable of brushing and keeping me upright all at once
I won't really need my brain 'til later anyway.
