Maxim's 5 Un Sexy Women an Insult to Women Everywhere

Sarah Jessica Parker is upset. Britney Spears is upset. Madonna is upset. Sarah Oh is upset and Amy Winehouse is drunk. All five women were named on Maxim's "5 Un-sexiest Women On The Planet."

Apparently Maxim, the magazine for men, feels compelled to label women as "un-sexy." So much so that they decided to devote an entire issue to insulting these five women. Despite what you may think about Sarah Jessica Parker or the others, they are human beings. 

Sarah Jessica Parker is understandably hurt at this insult. Britney Spears is supposedly devastated as well. The other three women were also upset. Madonna is probably crying...all the way to the bank.

It's bad enough that men's magazines such as Maxim feel compelled to treat women like pieces of meat by using photographs of women are considered "sexy" in a variety of sexually suggestive poses. While Maxim is not like Playboy (can't even come close) it embodies a lot of the Playboy mentality of using women as props.

Let's take a look at Sarah Jessica Parker. A former child star who is now a successful actress. She played Carrie in "Sex In The City" and was very convincing. Is she a great beauty? No - but she is attractive. And seems smart. Madonna? Who is smarter than her? She dragged herself up from nothing to become an icon. Amy Winehouse? Talented beyond all get out. Britney Spears? She's is STILL PRETTY and always was. To label her as "unsexy" is wrong. I have no idea who Sarah Oh is, but judging from the other faces on this list, I'm sure Maxim was way off with this, too.

Women's magazines seem to focus on "how to get a man." If you read Cosmopolitan or any other magazine geared towards single women, it is all about "pleasing men.

Men's magazines seem to be all about objectifying women. Where is the feminist outcry?

If I had money, I would start my own magazine that objectifies men. It could be entitled "Gooddigger." We could label the 5 most un-sexy men in Hollywood and anywhere else. We can objectify them by their actions, lack of money, lack of ambition, lack of hair and paunchy body shape.
