On any given evening, I can always count on my husband to spend several hours watching the Discovery Channel. Surprisingly, I find myself putting aside whatever I am doing to watch along as well. Therefore, I have picked some interesting programs to highlight. I think that they are worth checking out at least once. Bone Detective: For the archeology buff in your family, this show follows the adventures of an archaeologist as he journeys around the world. His quest is to find the secrets of the past that have yet to be revealed. Traveling to some of the most spectacular and remote places in the world, he seeks answers from the past to solve mysteries that are thousands of years old. The show airs on Mondays at 10 PM EST/PST on Discovery Channel.
Future Weapons with Mack: For the military veteran or just an enthusiast, this show will broaden the minds of those who become embroiled in this action-packed series. The host of the show, Mack, spends his time tracking down the newest weapons and defense systems that are now beginning to take their place in the ever-changing warfare missions of the 21st Century. There is, of course, tons of firepower, but what you will see is the technology behind many of the breakthroughs that have been designed to deal with the challenges of terrorism, bomb threats or in close combat situations. Check your local listings for the date and time of this interesting series.
Mythbusters: This fun and unique show would be great for the family. I would recommend teenagers and up though, as there can be some language issues. The premise of this show is to prove or disprove various types of myths. Some of the fun things that the gang has challenged have been whether Ninjas can really walk on water, would a Jet Pack actually work, could an exploding truck tire actually kill you, and dozens of others. You'll just have to tune in to see what crazy myth they are going to bust this week! Check local listings for times.
