Best College Basketball Coaches of the Modern Generation

In today's college basketball world, keeping a coach more than a few years is a major accomplishment. With the pressure to not only have a great season, but to do well in post season, teams often switch coaches in a matter of just a few years! Despite this fact their are a number of coaches who have maintained great basketball programs. They have won games, graduated players, and stayed out of trouble with the NCAA. Mike Krzyzewski- Although the last couple of years have been 'disappointments' by Duke standards, Coach K has a track record of successful season at Duke. Trained under Hall-of-Famer Bobby Knight, Coach K has a history of having tough, hard nose, and gritty teams. His success finally brought him a championship back in 1992 when he defeated the then undefeated UNLV running rebels. Roy Williams- Coach Williams finally got the 'monkey' off his back when he won his first championship in 2005. Despite only having one championship, he is an outstanding coach who has already been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Williams has enjoyed success both at Kansas and North Carolina. He has coached the likes of Danny Manning, Paul Pierce, Sean May and many others.

Tom Izzo- The head coach of Michigan State is known as a veteran in college coaching. His teams are known for their toughness both on defense and offense. Izzo has a championship ring and is known for his great success in the NCAA tournament.

Rick Barnes- Rick Barnes has made Texas University one of the elite programs in college basketball. He has coached the likes of Kevin Durant, T.J. Ford and D.J. Augustine. His tenure at Texas has seen 10 straight NCAA tournament appearances and a Final Four.
