If Hell ..

If hell was a burning fire

I'm right there in it.

The flames of pain won't cease.

No matter what I do,

They won't go out.

Water and baking soda isn't cutting it.

If hell really smelled like sulfur and brimstone,

The stench is strong in my nostrils.

This misery totally reeks!

I try to spray the perfume of joy.

The ugly smells linger.

It just won't go away.

If hell was a place of eternal torment,

I'm feeling it.

The tormentous misery just won't let up.

I distract myself.

I plea and plea.

The torture is just endless.

Thank God hell is only the grave.

It is a place where only we sleep in death.

No pain, torment, or suffering abounds.

Oh, how comforting this is to me.

But the weight of misery

And the flames of pain

Keep on burning on.

And if hell were all of these things.

I'd say that I'm right there in it.
