Get Rid of Our National Anthem?

Is it Offensive?

Should we play the "National Anthem" before a sporting event? Should children say the "Pledge of Allegiance" in class? The answer is NO according to liberals like Chester Butterfield. Chester Butterfield feels that we
are being "inappropriate" when we play the National Anthem before a sporting match, especially when the other team is from another country (he gave the Toronto Blue Jays) as an example.

No matter that other nations routinely do this all of the time. In the United States, we should not do this. We are, in his words, acting like we are going to war.

Liberals like Chester Butterfield is the reason why the Democratic party is such a train wreck and the Republicans just might pull it off in 2008. I have to tell you, after the last few years, I figured that if the Democrats ran Mickey Mouse in 2008, they would win. Now I'm not so sure. Besides, the Democrats would never run Mickey Mouse. He's too "apple pie."

The ultra left is not as "mainstream" as they like to believe they are. Instead, they are a renegade force, spurred on by Hollywood communists who live in an imaginary, plastic world. People like Sean Penn, who apparently got tired of beating up photographers and being drunk (remember the 80s?) and, finding film roles more scarce, decided to become a humanitarian. People like Penn are so used to people treating them like they are some sort of god and who also surround themselves with "yes" men, actually begin to believe that they can use their "power" to spout their socialist/communist views.

God Bless (Not Damn) America and as Kim stated-if you don't want to sing our National Anthem-you are welcome to leave and find a country whose anthem you want to sing-I agree-we won't miss you when you leave. Enjoyed the article, Michelle. (Hope you are still here)
The best argument for getting rid of our national anthem comes before every major sporting event. My kingdom for someone who a) can sing it straight, and b) can learn the lyrics.
All I can say is, "Wow". I don't follow the politics because it's always finger-pointing, good-guy/bad-guy to a point one doesn't know what or who to believe. Part of humanity is the vast array of personal choices and opinions. So, I just stay out of the political boxing-ring. lol All the power to all who speak up. Your views, opinions and comments are all very interesting.
I recall Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson both saying 9/11 was America's fault, but we Americans are very good at selective memory recall. But what do I know? I started a petition to change the anthem to "Who Let the Dogs Out."
An interesting bit about communism....great idea if you are a plant. Once you throw in the human condition, everything an individual does is rooted in that crazy theme of self. I suppose it can be said to be intrinsic with something called self-awareness.
Glad to see someone who is willing to speak her mind no matter what others may think. I find it appalling that lefties (mostly from Hollyweird, San Fransicko, etc.) love to bite the hand that feeds them (i.e. - America) yet they admire or at least give a free pass to tin-pot despots like Castro, Saddam, and their ilk. They love to shout idiotic things like "Bush is Hitler", "Cheney is Hitler", etc., yet the only one who isn't Hitler is the short mustached swarthe guy throwing his own people into wood chippers and acid baths.
What an absolute load of misinformation...
Very well thought out article! I appreciate your views and the way you handled them. Well done!
I'm sorry! I do not know anyone from my CHRISTIAN church that says anything like that about people who are not Christians. I am very sorry that you are a very misguided individual that needs to get your facts straight.
You've definitely gotten people thinking and talking, Kudos to those 144 comments (145 counting mine, I guess). I found the comments nearly as intriguing as your article. Thanks for a thought-provoking piece and thought-provoking comments here are appreciated, too. I liked the diversity of opinions, the ones written with respect for differing opinions :)
