Eggs are tasty sources of protein. The National Egg Council says eggs provide the body with vital nutrients. Unfortunately, eggs are high in cholesterol, saturated fats, and calories. This meat is listed as high-fat by the American Dietetic Association. That means they recommend this source of protein be eaten very few times a week. Dang! Why do eggs have to be so tasty!

What if there were some way for the calorie conscious and dieters to enjoy these delicious meats without paying the caloric and fat consequences? Actually, there are! Enter the wonderful miracle of egg whites. With a carton of eggs and an egg separator, a weight conscious dieter can enjoy the tasty benefits of eggs without the artery clogging drawbacks. 2 egg whites have just as many grams of protein as 1 regular egg at half the calories and almost no fat or cholesterol.

There are many delicious ways to cook egg whites. In fact, I think there are more ways to cook with egg whites than there are with regular eggs. What are some delectable ways to eat the low-fat, cholesterol-free portion of an egg? Here are some of my favorite recipes...

1. Scrambled egg white sandwiches

* Like a regular egg sandwich, only fewer calories and fat. Separate the eggs, toss the yolks, scramble 2-3 egg whites and sandwich them on the bread or tortilla. Top the eggs off with some low-fat miracle whip or ketchup.

2. Regular scrambled egg whites

* Just like the egg sandwich without the bread. Top it off with some salt and ketchup to get your complete source of protein.

3. Whip up an egg white meringue

* One of my favorite ways to cook egg whites. Get out an electric egg beater and put your egg whites into a large, oven safe bowl. Beat the egg whites at high speed until white peaks begin to form. Toss the bowl of egg whites into the oven and cook at 350 degrees until the top begins to brown. The eggs will be light, fluffy, and enormous! Be careful, the egg whites will over triple in volume.

4. Make an omelet

* Separate the eggs and fry up the whites. Put your favorite vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, and onions, inside. You'll get your vegetables, protein and vital nutrients all in a low calorie morsel.

i totally agree, i usually do about 8 egg whites at a time. first whip them a little bit to seperate them, them blend in the crystal light and microwave for 8-10 mins. i cut it up and eat it like a puffed marshmellow or something. i also add 5 egg whites + 1 scoop whey protein powder + 1 packet of Kashi GoLean vanilla oatmeal and microwave in a plastic container for 5 mins. I have it for breakfast every morning
