Introduction
There are many components of successful leadership including communication, team-building and effective coaching within a team environment. In a progressive innovative working environment these three elements are interdependent upon the other to create an optimal organizational opportunity for growth for individuals as well as the organization.
Communication
Effective communication is essential to the success, and interaction between individuals, and organizations. For communication to be effective in any setting there must be a sender, and a receiver participating in dialog. This process applies in a virtual environment ,as well as in a face-to-face environment. According to the authors of the article Managing Communication Within Virtual Intercultural Teams (Grosse, 2002), a virtual team is defined as one that conducts its work primarily through the use of electronic technology. The authors discuss how business students in virtual teams involved in short-term, and long-term projects must be prepared in terms of managing diverse intercultural teams, and the importance of choosing the appropriate channel for balancing their face-to-face interactions with the distance interaction.
