American Idol, Top 10 finalists. Obviously there are no more bad singers/musicians in the competition, but in order to win this, it's time to shine. One mistake, one less than spectacular performance can be the end of a dream. One of the contestants who can still keep dreaming and favorite of the crowd is Jason Castro.

Jason Castro is one of those outsiders that can get very, very far. He's never the best performer, but always too good to be voted out of the contest. Since his audition, he's done the same thing, his thing: sing beautiful songs that work best when accompanied by a guitar, and nothing else. His fragile voice, angelic looks and over-relaxed attitude already got him the vote of many girls. But is the jury as convinced as they are that Castro could go all the way in this competition?

After 2 consecutive Lennon & McCartney nights, the contestants had to choose a song from the year they were born in. Castro chose to sing Stings 'Fragile'. Again appearing with his by now already trademark guitar, he started the song in English, and gave it a nice little Spanish twist in the mid-section. His voice sounded as breakable as ever, without ever getting out of tune. He still had the weird facial tics but seemed to be a lot more relaxed and self-assured than last week, maybe even a bit too relaxed. Which didn't escape Simon, as he rightly told Jason to start taking things a bit more seriously. There's no doubt whatsoever that he's one of the most talented competitors of them all (his version of 'Hallelujah' was way too impressive to be a stroke of luck), but at this stage, it might not be sufficient anymore.
