David Cook does not look like a rocker. In fact, without the guitar prop, David Cook looks quite ordinary, a bit drab and unassuming. But ordinary is not a word that would be anywhere near accurate in describing the talent and stage presence of this 25-year-old Texahoman (he was born in Texas, lives in Oklahoma). David Cook rocks!!

Being in the Final Ten on American Idol was almost a certainty for Cook simply because his performances seemed so well studied and so well delivered. Give him his guitar, which he is no rank amateur at playing, and David Cook takes on a stage presence, has a confidence that lifts him over the other performers . Over David Archuleta's sleepy-eyed good looks (and killer voice). Over Carly Smithson's high notes and Irish cuteness. Over Michael Johns raw power. Over Jason Castro's totally laid back and totally winning personality and voice. Over Ramiele's cuteness and oversized beautiful vocals.

Over. Over them all.

Simon Cowell, the often brutally honest judge that American Idol fans either love, hate, or love to hate, told Cook a couple weeks back that if the show was judged on pure talent, Cook would win. After Cook performed a throaty, guitar-driven version of Lionel Ritchie's "Hello" for his Final Sixteen offering, there was little doubt that David Cook would be on American Idol to the end.

Cook's rendition of "Eleanor Rigby", the Beatles classic, for the Final Twelve was by far the best performance of the night, even surpassing Brooke White's version of "Let It Be." Cook, guitarless, with his death-grip on the microphone, powered out such a cool vocal from inside his mandarin-collared jacket that he blew away all three judges.

In his Top Eleven performance, where the show went to the Beatles songbook for a second week (probably not a good idea, considering the overall poor performances), Cook did the Whitesnake version of "Day Tripper," which wowed judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Simon Cowell thought it was terrible. This writer thought it was the best performance of the night, with a nod to David Archuleta's "Long And Winding Road" performance.

I believe there was an error on your headline. I think you meant to say, the LOUD SCREAMER David Cook that is his REAL TALENT. WOW Who could have thought that we have to endure another LOUD wannabe rocker who thinks he is so original? Say what is original? He cannot hit any of the high notes, so he has to twist the sound around and end every song with that YELLING he thinks it is a talent? who is so full of himself already (has not even won anything, but a little extra marketing from Amazon on his old and failed CD records), Oh by the way, did you notice, that he always sings with his eyes closed, has a bad hair do every single week and is a Rocker wannabe or thinks he is the next Daughtry. Give us a break folds and don't insult our intelligence. Daughtry did not win and he had better vocals and incredible performances. Go figure. But again some of us like vanila and some chocolate. I say David Cook will be voted off the next week or so. Bye bye go find yourself the Cookie Jar now, Mr.

Clive Davis could absolutely ruin David Cook. Look at the crap he made Bo Bice put out right after Idol. It sounded NOTHING like what he did on the show and that was part of the reason it faded into the background. They took a true southern rocker and tried to make him sound like everything else on the radio which the fans weren't really interested in. Now, he has a second album (on his own label) and it is a 1000 times better. Anyway, I don't think it would be good for David Cook to win because they will try to do the same. (I know Bo didn't win either but RCA gave him a recording contract and then had no idea what to do with him from there.) Anything that made Cook stand out on Idol will be twisted and stomped down until he is just another face, just another voice. Not to mention, the Idol single they choose will inevitably be some mind-numbingly cheesy "A Moment Like This" or "This is my Now." Sorry, I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

Clive Davis will not stifle David Cook. They are well aware that he has a CD out there. I really think they are going to listen to what he has to say because he so talented. Don't be so quick to judge Clive Davis. Clive has discovered and presented such major talent. David Cook will be just fine.

NJ Rocker - I agree with you. Though David Cook is incredible and I can't stop playing his idol songs or solo CD, I think winning the whole thing would be BAD. He's got incredible talent and I think you are right that the Idol Machine would stifle his creativity. He writes some awesome material, in addition to having the voice, and I'd hate to see that go by the wayside, even for the time he's under contract with Idol. People have a short memory, and he needs to get out there with his own stuff while he's on top.

David Cook has one thing going for him that other "American Idol Rockers" in the past don't and that's being musically inclined. He has an incredibly distinct delivery and stage presence, as well as originality. Bo Bice and Chris Daughtry are both good singers but they're much more pop rock. David Cook is using American Idol as a great vehicle show us his skills but winning this competition would be a mistake. Clive Davis will ruin him. Use Daughtry as an example, he placed fourth (i think?) and has been one of the highest selling Idol finalists ever. But the problem is his music is generic and boring rock, he sings every second of his album (except for Slash's crappy solo) and never gives any members of his "band" a chance to really play. Cook on the other hand has shown he is willing to take chances and his arrangement of Elenor Rigby was amazing, granted "Hello" and "Billie Jean" were borrowed from other rockers, he shown he has the skills to be a real "rocker".
