David Cook's Rendition of Billy Jean Powerful

He's definitely got what it takes! David Cook is going to be a star whether he is chosen as the next American Idol or not. Last night's performance was an absolutely brilliant rendition of Michael Jackson's, Billy Jean. When
David Cook's Rendition of Billy Jean Powerful
the song was announced I cringed inside at the choice. This was not one of my favorite songs when Michael Jackson sang it. If you were able to see and hear his performance you would know how terrific it was.

David's performance started with just him and the microphone. He did not even sing a note and he made an impression. When he did sing that first note he captured his audience. It was a performance that was captivating. His arrangement of a very overdone song gave it new life. The entire song was different. If he were to record that song today it could be a top ten hit.

David's voice was powerful, husky in that sexy-rocker kind of way. He showed a very wide range with this song and was able to hit all his notes perfectly. In addition to his terrific voice David's personality comes through in his singing and that alone changes and then makes the song work. He also has a keen understanding of timing, and has a confidence that is enjoyable to watch.

David Cook has that leading man star quality. He not only has the voice, but he has the look. He is the entire package. His look is a little different, a little quirky and it works, it is very appealing. His stage presence is commanding and his singing ability is captivating. David should be considered American Idol's front runner this season. The only other two performers who are up for his challenge are Michael Johns and Carly Smithson, who also possess the star qualities needed to be the next American Idol.

I think David Cook has a great voice and will have a great career - but I'm sorry, I'm NOT cool at all with him taking other people's songs and singing them EXACTLY their way... Chris Cornell's cd hasn't even come out yet, and people are buying David C's version of it online, and then he sang Eleanor Rigby in Doxology's way (who are friend's of Blake Lewis as well).. I'd like to see David C. come up with his OWN arrangement and see if he is actually as clever as everyone's making him out to be.. Now dont get me wrong, I'm a big fan of his, but come on man... make your own arrangement!

Dude, lighten up. They announced it was the Chris Cornell version, but something you seem to be overlooking- David Cook's rendering of Chris Cornell's version was MUCH BETTER than Chris Cornell's. Chris Cornell's version is great if you like Howlin' Wolf, but David Cook has a BETTER voice- period.

Exactly, Ryan stated it was Chris Cornell version of Billy Jean. He still did a good job.

David Cook performed very well and has a great voice; however, you're giving him too much credit for the arrangement. His version of Billy Jean was very similar to the version that Chris Cornell recently released.

Great review. I was amazed. He needs to release this song!
