One day while looking in the vending machine for a quick snack, I spotted Sweet and Salty Caramel Bugles. I'm a fan of the original flavor crunchy snack, but I wasn't too convinced that I should try this new flavor. When I think caramel I think of caramel apples and caramel popcorn. Caramel Bugles seemed like a long shot. Or maybe it wasn't? I'm not big on mixing sweet and salty flavors, but curiosity often gets the best of me. It was worth a shot. Sometimes it's hard to find that combination on the rare occasion I have a craving.
I pulled some money from my wallet and purchased a bag. If I didn't like it, at least I'd satisfied my curiosity and I could warn others about the product. If I did like it, well, I'd enjoy my guilty snack and pass along a raving review.
As usual it didn't take me long to tear into, I mean open the bag of Bugles as I was pretty hungry. I decided before hand that I wouldn't let my hunger get in the way of the review. I wanted to give an unbiased review, if there is such a thing. My first thought was yum. I could taste the caramel coating and as I bit into the crispy snack a hint of the saltiness came through. It was a good combination afterall- sort of like caramel popcorn. I ate a few more Bugles and found I was correct in my assessment.
I wouldn't put Bugles on my list of healthy snacks, but if you eat a single serving bag you'll be ok. Each 1.4 oz. bag is 10 grams of fat and 190 calories. Each bag also has 300 mg of sodium, 23 grams of carbs and 11 grams of sugar.
Caramel Bugles are offered in 1.4 oz. and 3.5 oz. bags. You can find the smaller bags in select vending machines and larger bags at your local grocery or party store.
I recommend Bugles Caramel flavor for people that often combine sweet and salty items for a snack. I know quite a few people that do this so this product is ideal for them. If you fit that category, you'll get all the sweet flavor from the caramel and the saltiness you'll ever want. If you're leary, give a try. It might surprise you like it surprised me. The fun shape is still the same as always so grab a handful and enjoy.
