Jason Castro Loses His Edge

Jason Castro's smile can light up the stage on American Idol. His voice is soft and sweet. He has a natural showmanship that makes you want to see more and he made me love the song "Hallelujah" even more than I did before.

Since I first heard him sing Jason has been one of my absolute favorite performers. I was saddened by his performance last night. It was weak and at times far too quiet. I had trouble keeping my attention on him and found the performance to be extremely boring.

Jason needs to come out of his comfort zone and show us what he's really capable of. If he continues at this slow pace I'm afraid his good looks and charming personality won't get him much further in this competition.

As Simon Cowell has said before, in the end this is a talent competition and not a popularity contest. If Jason wants to stay he's going to have to take big risks and show us his vocal and performance ranges. In this writer's opinion we need to see more performances from Jason like his performance during 80s week and less like his performance last night.
