As a firm-standing Democrat, I cannot understand why so many Democrats would vote for John McCain if their Democratic Party choice does not win the Democratic nominee. Here is why I think it is mind-boggling to vote for John McCain and why, if you are a Democrat, you should vote for whoever the party nominee is:

1. Clinton and Obama's position are so similar! Seriously! Have you even looked at their platforms or are you just judging them on character? I consider myself to be well-informed about politics and if you were to look at both of their platforms, you can see that they have similar positions on almost every issue. Both want to bring the troops home after a year, both want universal health care, both want to be pro-active on the sub-prime mortgage mess, etc. I could go on and on about how similar their policies are.

2. John McCain is a war hawk. People, do you really want another pro-Bush war hawk in the White House? It is a serious mess in Iraq and American troops are courageously fighting in a war that is meaningless to the United States. Both Obama and Clinton want to bring the troops home, not keep them in Iraq for the next 10-100 years as McCain has stated he wants to do. That is simply a result I cannot tolerate.

3. McCain doesn't have a plan for the economy! Folks, have you even heard him utter anything about the economy? Because I sure haven't. There's a reason why John McCain got thoroughly trounced during the Republican primary to Mitt Romney in states where the economy was the number one issue. John McCain simply can't help the economy and doesn't have a plan for it. He wants business to regulate itself and that simply is the status quo. We currently have an economy in ruins with companies like Bear Stearns going out of business and the dollar is falling fast. John McCain wants to keep us in a war that is costing us $19 million each month and he has no plan for putting back together this economy.

Oh and a comment to 'Immigrant', I live in Thailand and even the Thais don't like America and they like EVERYBODY, so it's not just the islamists. They used to like America, but since Bush arrived in office, I haven't heard one single Thai say anything positive about America. Lately, they've all been starting their conversations with "It's not that I don't like Americans but......", and I'm talking about highly-educated Thais who could buy and sell you and me several times over :-)

"Clinton and Obama's position are so similar! Seriously! Have you even looked at their platforms or are you just judging them on character?" Um....character is MORE important than anything. And yes, I'm one of those Democrats who, if Hillary isn't the nominee, I will NOT vote for Obama (don't trust him, don't like him, so why would I vote for him??) I'll either vote for Nader or not at all. The RIGHT of someone living in a true democracy is the choice to choose to vote or not. I don't understand why anyone would vote for a candidate they don't like and don't trust, just because he/she is a Democrat. Crazy.

There are reasons for democrats to vote for McCain in my view. The main reason is democrats don't give us a good enough candidate which we can trust, has experience and already did something significantly good for this beautiful country of ours. Examples: 1) Clinton lies already in campaign about Bosnia about her role in Ireland. Why I should trust her? 2) Clinton brag about experience she doesn't have, just being in White House as a wife means nothing, Romney was right she was intern in White House. 3) When she tried to make a proposal for Health in Bill presidency - it was a disaster which democrats and republicans didn't vote for. 4) When she wasn't able to make good progress in her campaign she calls Bill to help her and even give us tears. 5) Obama is running promising to be a unifier. What he unified up till now. He voted in congress with a lot of NOs but he never try to convince a republican to share his views. He didn't convince Rev. Wright to stop preaching "Hate Ame

the Democrats plan for the economy is to use stimulus packages and cut back on housing mortgages to help the housing market. The stimulus package is designed to put to work people in jobs dealing with green energy.

I would have rather had Romney too! I have health care I have purchased for years and I am not wealthy. It is a matter of priority and I don't want anyone (especially the government) telling me how to run my life or make decisions for me. 4 generations of welfare on the Democratic side should tell you something!

None of them have a plan for the economy .....hard worker, whoever gets elected will surround themselves with people that will dictate economic policies, it's just that the dems want every damn entitlement program there is. The economy is not good right now...for a moment forget why or how's to blame, question is do YOU honestly think giving away for free stuff will make it better?

Type in case number in prior post and read the details of how Hillary had herself removed as defendant on her FEC violations http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/civilCaseSummary/index.asp?CaseType=Civil

Why would I vote for this: Case Number: BC304174, Peter F Paul VS William Jefferson Clinton, 04/25/2008 at 08:31 am in department 47 at 111 North Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012, Filing Date: 10/14/2003, Case Type: Fraud? I will be voting for a third party candidate in November should the choice be impeached Bill and McCain. If the public wants war in Iran with either of them, they can choose it. My conscience will be clear. Either way it will be a disaster for my grandchildren. Not much I can do about dumb arse people who vote for Clintons and the DNC that condones corruption.

thank you to all who have put comments. i find it interesting how none of the McCain supporters contested my point about how McCain has no plan on fixing the struggling economy, just a thought to throw out there

to the person who commented about universal health care and y the U.S. shouldn't have it: currently most people get health care from their employer at their job. however, for people who lose their jb or dont have a job- they arent covered under any type of health care plan. thus, their health care costs just for a basic visit to the doctor can be several hundred dollars and even the simplest of procedures can cost serveral thousand dollars. universal heath care would help the lower and middle class people who really need help paying for health insurance

First off, I'm an Independent, but I will be voting for McCain. That said, your article has 1.5 stars which to me is mind-boggling. It's not the best-written article out there, but I have seen articles on this site rated twice as high (three stars or sometimes more) in which the author obviously has no clue how to write or get their point across. It's thus pretty obvious (and disappointing) that people are rating the article based on their opinion of what it says rather than how it is said. I personally gave it three stars. Like I said, it's not the best, but it isn't even close to the worst either. Compared to other content I've seen on here, it is about average. Whether I agree or disagree with you politically should not be a factor in the rating. JMHO.
