Facebook, the giant social networking popular among college and university students and the antagonist of Myspace.com, is changing things up again. This time, they're revamping all Facebook profiles by adding and removing certain key features. However, many of these changes have caused a huge anti-change uproar among Facebook users, much like the past outrage over the Facebook Beacon. Regardless, it looks like Facebook will still go ahead with "improving" your Facebook profile, even though most users don't want it.

What's Changing in Your Facebook Profile:

1. Facebook is combining your "mini feed" and "wall" features into one page called "Wall." According to the Facebook Developers' page, the reason for combining the mini feed and wall is because your Facebook "profile is a place where a user might catch up with a friend by reading a new Wall post, or by seeing a Mini-Feed story with pictures from a trip they just took" (source). Thus, by combining the two, it would make it easier for someone to catch up on everything that you're doing.

This has caused quite an outrage among Facebook users. Hundreds of users have commented on Facebook's "Profile Previews" account, which is open only to Facebook account holders. These users have expressed a worry that combining the two would give you less control of your personal information. I, for one, don't like the idea because combining the two would bury the actions that normally occur in your minifeed. For example, when I write a new note, I like to keep it in my mini feed for a while so that my friends know I wrote it. I also get a lot of wall posts. Combining the two would push my note off of the screen and bury it in wall posts. Many have agreed. One user wrote, saying "NO MINI-FEED/WALL COMBO, why is that hard to understand? Telling us more about your mini-feed/wall combo just irritates me more because your not even listening."
