It has been nearly a month since Potomac Video was forced to close its' porn section. Idylwood Shopping Center in Falls Church, Virginia hasn't been the same since. Passerby’s are unlikely to notice the gloomy cloud that has befallen the popular Northern Virginia shopping center. Locals, however, are well aware of the impact that the closure has had, both on Potomac Video and the surrounding community. Last month, many of Potomac's patrons were saddened to learn that due to an unclear technicality, porn would no longer be a staple and comfort at Potomac Video. Popular belief says that it was a consumer complaint that kick started the chain of events leading to the tragedy. Unfortunately for Potomac Video, who did not possess a porn license, they were left with little choice but to oblige Idylwood management's demand to immediately shut down their expansive porn section. Apparently, prior to that point, the two had an arrangement that had for some time been beneficial to both. The complaint simply could not be ignored, forcing Idlywood to take action, while also rendering their previous unwritten arrangement null and void.

The XXX ban remains until January 2007 , when Potomac and Idylwood will sit down and try to work out an agreement. Potomac maintains that if at that time Idylwood does not reinstate their right to carry the salacious materials, Potomac will pick up shop and move to a more "adult" community. Certainly it is not an empty threat. Porn comprises a significant portion of Potomac's revenue. In fact, Potomac's impressive porn section has few competitors, the closest being MVC, with nowhere near the flexibility and selection that Potomac has to offer. For nearly a decade, Potomac has had a strong foothold within the community, both porn-viewing and not. Customers and employees recognize how tragic it will be come January, if Idylwood does not lift the porn ban.

Hey Leena, then why don't you write an article about starving children. When you choose to read an article, you're kind of accepting that article's subject. I would read an article about a movie and complain that it doesn't talk about green eggs and ham.

My point was that starving children might be a bigger issue than losing porn. It's not like you can't find it anywhere else.

Starving children? We're talking about porn here. PORN! Besides, starving children have plenty of representatives: St. Judes, Sally Struthers, Christians and so on.

We are getting upset over porn? It's not like their are starving children or anything to worry about. For goodness sakes, if the people want porn, there is PLENTY on the internet.
