Buyers Beware: First Premier Bank Platinum Credit Card Payment Policy

Credit-Building Credit Card Has Delays in Available Credit to Customers in Good Standing

Buyers beware of First Premier Bank's Platinum credit cards. Sure, using the card correctly can help to restore bad credit by building a credit history, but there is a major problem with the way First Premier Bank handles payments, as some Platinum credit card users are finding out.

First Premier Bank has a written security clause called Payment Verification in the payment policy which halts customer's available credit for a minimum of sixteen days after payments have been received and deducted from the remaining balance due.

When a local bank employee was asked what the normal amount of time for a Payment Verification process was, she asserted that two or three days was common and that an amount of fourteen was surely not realistic. The clause, in its entirety or even in part, is only mentioned one place- the back of the written, mailed bill in very fine print.

There are numerous ways to pay on accounts, most of which does not require the customer to have even seen the paper bill. On the back of the First Premier Bank Platinum credit card is the website address and phone number of First Premier Bank. If a customer uses either of these two ways to contact and make payment, then the customer does not come in contact with a possible chance of finding the notice!

For one of First Premier Bank's Platinum credit card customers, this was a double smack because she had paid the balance in full and plus had a three dollar credit- all before she had received her first bill. She says, "I just wanted to raise my credit rating and gain some credit history, so I tried it out. I fell I got gypped because the web page that I made my payment at said it would post the same day because it was before 3:00 PM, Thursday. When it didn't post the next day, I called and was told my account had to go through a security process to ensure their payment. The man said many others had to go through this also and that I was warned on the back of my bill that it could take twenty or more days to receive credit. I feel I was mislead about the payment procedure at First Premier Bank. I hope not to find any other surprises."

First Premier Bank Website Address is http://www.firstpremier.com/

The disclosure I'm reading in front of me, says you also get charged 1/2 of any limit increase, should you become eligible.... wow, how nice is that.

I have there gold card for almost a year and they just offered me there platinum and so I took it because I can't get any other cards with the the credit I have. I don't charge anything, I just pay my payments each month and have no troubles with them. I accept the fees because I need these to help get my credit up. I was young and stupid and got into bad debt. These cards a great for building credit. my score has gone up alot since I got the gold card. They send me a monthly bill and statement every month. I refuse to get a secured card so this is the way I took. Everyone needs a second chance and this is mine. My own bank after being with them for over 2 years wouldn't even offer me anything like this except a secured card with a minimum amount down of $300 and after a year I can get a unsecured from $250 up. yeah not gonna happen lol. wells fargo by the way.

Hello! I have accepted the fees and paid it due to no credit; I am looking forward in using my credit card for the very first time. I will be careful in what I purchase so I can pay the monthly bill. I need to build credit. I suggest that all of you purchase an item that you can afford to make the monthly payment and you will have an increase in your credit. Be positive in yourself with the understanding of building your credit to gain more credit line.

Well, I never liked this card for the high fees I had to pay. I will admit, I didn't look at the initial advert very closely, and was shocked by the high start up fees, and had received the card, and used it. I was also surprised they had sent an active card in the mail too. But, by using it, I was committed to the fees, which showed up later, after I had charged over a hundred or so, and got the overcharge fee. I was going to pay it off and cancel it, but kept it for four months. I never really used it much, and finally came into some money and paid it off. I went to use it, and found out about the hold for twenty or so days. I canceled it at this point, after sending some nice little e-mails to customer service that I thought this was a "laughable policy" they had. I never got a response on that. I was told my account was canceled as requested, and they sent a bill for one dollar. Ha, ha, ha. I was also told to destroy my card. I already had done so, with a lighter to mel
