Five Tips to Help Teens Earn Money

Ways for Teens in the Family to Stay Busy and Earn Extra Cash!

My 2 teenage daughters are starting to become more and more motivated to make some of their own money. Becoming older has made them more interested in extra activities and things they want to do. With a family as large as this, they know I'm not sitting around with pockets stuffed with
extra money for them to get the things they want, nor do I possess the cash to give for these things. Here are some of the things they've been doing to earn it for themselves....it's been lucrative for them and I can see it gives them a big sense of accomplishment as well.

Bake/Rummage Sale- The whole selling point here was the baked goods. The girls baked cookies, brownies, cupcakes and some other things. Served some kool-aid and away went the sale!! They attracted people with the baked goodies, and once the people showed up they were then looking at the rummage items they were selling. It went over pretty good. This type of a sale really works well if you live on a busier street. Since we have moved we still find that there's interest, but the street we now live on is less busy. lf you live in a high traffic area, you'll do very well with this.

Sewing- If your teen is good at sewing it can be a great way to earn cash. These girls are great seamstresses and make money from doing it. My 2nd daughter is known around school for making a draw string type of back pack. They really turn out cute. She's learned to use our sewing machine in a way that is similar to an embroidery machine. She is able to make letters with it spelling out names or team names. She has done very well with this endeavor and has a nice saving from it. They have also altered and mended clothes for some adults that have in turn paid them for it. The word gets around that these girls sew and that translates into cash for them. They don't seem to mind.
