Jealousy is defined as hostility toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage. We know it more commonly as the ugly feeling we get when someone else has something we want. None of us enjoy that feeling, and are always seeking ways to rid our lives of the green-eyed monster. After many experiences and taking a good look at my life, I realized that jealousy is simply a state of mind - a state of mind that's very changeable. Here, I share a few of the things that helped me rid my life of jealousy and live happier and healthier.

Appreciate you

The first piece of information you need to take in, and appreciate, is that there is absolutely no one on this Earth like you. That's pretty amazing when you stop to think about it. After all, when there is only one of anything, everyone wants it!

Each of us has unique gifts. I'm not talking about being a concert pianist, skilled surgeon, or award-winning actor. Although these are indeed gifts, I'm talking more about inner gifts. You may be that unique person who has a way to get others to laugh, or you could be that one person who seems to always be able to help others negotiate problems like no one else. Perhaps you are the one who, during brainstorming at work, always seem to come up with a great idea. Maybe you are the one who automatically holds a door open for someone, or is very good at remembering to send a birthday card. The point is, everyone, and I do mean each and every one of us, has gifts to offer to others. That makes you pretty special.

No one is 100% happy with the way we look or the way we are, even me. I've seen supermodels interviewed and each and every one of them have one or more physical attributes they are not happy about. Each human experiences insecurities about their physical appearance. It's a fact of life and it's nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
