Minor League Profile:

Career Minor League Stat Totals:
1655 at bats, 300 runs, 114 doubles, 12 triples, 41 homeruns, 289 RBI, 9 stolen bases, .301 batting average

After five years of minor league experience, Daric Barton has demonstrated his ability to hit for average as well as becoming a doubles hitter. Unfortunately with doubles being Barton's specialty, a lack of homerun production has been noticed from Barton over the years. This power outage is one of the major problems with Barton being a first baseman, since that is traditionally considered a power and run producing position. However Barton's overall experience and eye at the plate is very polished and he should provide good at bats for Oakland in 2008.

Major League Profile:

Career Major League Stat Totals:
72 at bats, 16 runs, 9 doubles, 4 homeruns, 8 RBI, 1 stolen base, .347 batting average

In his major league debut at the end of 2007, Barton actually produced at a higher level than what was expected of him. While his batting average of .347 in 72 at bats does not properly display his expected batting average, it does prove that Barton has a pretty good eye at the plate and can hit major league pitching. If he can continue this type of progress, a full season of batting around .320 is very possible. Now if only his homerun power develops, Barton would become a top 10 fantasy first baseman.
