Most of us have partially filled bottles of hair conditioner in the house that we're not using. Perhaps we didn't like the scent or how it affected our hair. Or maybe you have a half dozen of the small hotel hair conditioner bottles hanging around. Instead of wasting them by throwing them out, try using them around the house for everyday tasks. Here are some alternate ways to use up that hair conditioner:Use hair conditioner as a shaving lotion.
Hair conditioners contain moisturizers that help soften shaved skin. Apply it the same way you would your regular shaving lotion or cream. You can also use hair conditioner as an overall skin softener. Just use it in place of soap or your normal liquid body wash and rinse thoroughly.
Remove a stuck ring.
If you have a ring that is difficult to remove, dampen your finger and put a few drops of hair conditioner around the area of the ring and it will slide right off.
Use hair conditioner as a lubricant as an alternative to WD40.
Hair conditioner can be used to lubricate almost anything, from squeaky doors to rusting hinges. If your shower curtain doesn't slide easily on its rod, apply a small amount of hair conditioner to the rod. The shower curtain will slide beautifully. Repeat when rod becomes dry again.
Clean your houseplant leaves.
Pour a small amount of hair conditioner on a damp cloth and wipe down your houseplant leaves. This will remove the dust and give them a gorgeous shine.
Wash delicates.
For clothes that need to be hand washed, including delicates like bras and stockings, put a capful of hair conditioner into a sink of warm water and agitate until mixed in. Let your delicates soak for a half hour, then knead them gently in the water. Rinse thoroughly, squeeze water out gently, then lay between two towels and press gently. Hang to complete drying process.
Shine chrome.
Apply a small amount of hair conditioner to a dry cloth and rub into any chrome or stainless steel that needs shining, such as sink faucets, garden trowels, golf clubs, or car bumpers. Buff off completely. Using hair conditioner to shine chrome not only gives it a new luster but also protects it from water and salt spots.
