You may want to give your Mom some extra special flowers for the 100th Anniversary of Mother's Day in 2008. Birth month flowers have very special meanings that will pay great tribute to your Mom on Mother's Day. Of course, Moms born in winter months will not be able to get Poinsettias for Mother's Day, but you can read about the special meanings of other spring flowers and match those flowers to your Mom's best traits and characteristics. Be sure to include a note in your Mother's Day card that explains the special meaning of your Mom's birth flower.

If Mom was born in January - Birth Flower is Carnation or Snowdrop

Don't give Mom yellow carnations since this means you have disappointed me or rejected me. If your Mom is not near you, striped carnations will be nice since these flowers mean wish I could be with you. Pink carnations mean I'll never forget you and white carnations mean sweet and lovely. Carnations originally came from Asia around 2,000 years ago.

If Mom was born in February - Birth Flower is Iris or Violet

The Iris has three petals that stand for faith, wisdom, and valor. In Greek mythology, Iris was the messenger of Ancient Greek gods; the link between heaven and earth; and the personification of a rainbow. The purple Violet stands for modesty, and the Blue Violet stands for watchfulness and faithfulness.

If Mom was born in March - Birth Flower is Daffodil or Jonquil

Daffodils signify rebirth and new beginnings. One of the first flowers to emerge in spring, the Daffodil promises happiness and joy. The beautiful Jonquil says "love me' or gives Mom the message of affection being returned to her.

If Mom was born in April - Birth Flower is Daisy or Sweet Pea

Daisies will make your Mom feel young forever and playfully happy. According to myth, a nymph transformed herself into a daisy with charming and unassuming beauty in order to avoid unwanted attention. The Sweet Pea stands for good-byes or departures and can also signify thanking Mom for a lovely time.

If Mom was born in May - Birth Flower is Lily or Hawthorn
