Are you looking for a job in the not-for-profit world? There are specific websites that list job opportunities that you may find of interest. Some of these jobs may be listed at other job hunting boards such as Monster.com or Craigslist.com – but others seem to only be listed at these websites.

Job hunting can be challenging for just about anyone. It can be helpful to look at websites that target your career field. If you are new to the not-for-profit field you may not be aware of which websites exist. Here are some of the popular websites that list job opportunities to get you started.

A good rule of thumb is to check websites that list job opportunities weekly, perhaps once or twice each week. You will want to get your resume to employers immediately, so being aware of “fresh” opportunities is helpful. Idealist.org for example, always gives a deadline for applicants to apply by. But often the deadline is several months into the future. We all know that employers are typically looking to hire as soon as they can find the best candidate – having a prompt response to job listings can certainly yield more interviews and potential job opportunities for you.

Consider also printing out the job listings that you apply for. Some websites take down listings after a certain amount of time. It can be very helpful to review the job listing when a potential employer calls you for the interview. You can mentally go over your resume and experience to highlight how you are best qualified for this position. This can help you prepare for the interview. Keeping these job listings is a helpful tool. It can also give you a good perspective to see just how many jobs you have applied for, so you see how hard you are working at your job search.

These websites are also a great resource for anyone wanting to enter the not-for-profit field. Some of them have articles of interest and The Foundation Center also has online courses that you can take – some for free and others at a charge.
