I sat and smoked a cigarette
then took a drive to where we met
the wind was cold, the tears ran firm
the place was calm
yet sad -- unborn

We took so long to call it quits
we sat and stayed through all the fits
and then one day we lost it all
it came so fast and seemed so small

The torch still burns that takes us all
I took my seat and watched us fall
the hours passes, our time ran long
then it died, at last just gone

I took the time to lie my dear
You took the time to cry my dear
and one last time through summers eyes
we sat and lost and watched it die
