At this point, you either see it or you don't: Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) has no chance of winning the Presidency in any legitimate manner.

What is left? A candidate who was at one point the inevitable nominee is now left grabbing for straws, hoping to play the American populace for fools.

No longer able to win the election on her own merits, Clinton's campaign has decided to destroy the opposition instead. They are working the book of tactics that Karl Rove used to such great success: right on the edge of acceptability, Senator Hillary Clinton distorts the reality of this election, plays the moral high ground, baits her opponent to deflect attention, and then cries "victim" when she is responded to.

In the eyes of Clinton's campaign, she knows better than the voters. Senator Clinton's narcissism dictates that she deserves this election, and she is staying in the race to make sure that the poor public doesn't make a mistake.

In reality, she is becoming increasingly alienated from the rest of the country. The percent of the country that holds a negative opinion of her is at a seven year high; public opinion is turning, and it is doing so fast. The "kitchen sink" has landed squarely in her lap.

Nonetheless, her tactics will continue, and Senator Clinton's most ardent supporters will fall in line with any argument she makes.

To Senator Hillary Clinton and her followers, the fact that Senator Obama consistently polls higher than Senator Clinton means he is "unelectable."

To Senator Hillary Clinton and her followers, that Senator Obama polls nine points ahead of Senator McCain in California means that she (and only she) can "win the big states." (Senator Obama also holds a 17 point lead over Senator McCain in Connecticut; Senator Clinton, three points.)

The only "Commander-in-Chief threshold" we have in this country is the one that takes place in voting booths. Her only hope now is to so thoroughly destroy Senator Barack Obama's image that the Democratic Superdelegates will have no choice but to hand-pick her as the next Democratic nominee.

God bless Clinton's democracy.

I agree. It needs to be handled well and Clinton has every right to stick in it for as long as she wants. If her intention is to destroy Obama, however, it is a very selfish one at this point.

If she decides to do so, Hillary has every right to continue in the race until either Barack gets the magic number, or the superdelegates force her out. To suggest otherwise makes the entire process a travesty, and renders voters powerless. If allowing the voting process to take its natural course damages the Democratic party, then the party must be amazingly weak. Watching Howard Dean sweat everytime he's asked what they are going to do with Hillary suggests that they are terrified the election is slowly slipping from their hands. Personally, I think how they handle this situation with her could make or break any chances they might have in November.

This was Hillary's race to lose and she did a mighty fine job of squandering her front runner status to the point that it is laughable that she continues to run. Obama leads in popular vote. Obama leads in the delegate count. The writing is on the wall, but Hillary refuses to read it. Why? She isn't running for President for the county. She is running for President for herself. She has no concern about hurting the Democrat's chances of winning in November. I'm actually convinced that if Obama is the nominee, she'll want him to lose in November so she can run again in 2012. I cannot support Hillary because she voted to authorize the invasion of Iraq despite the pleas of her NY constituents, such as myself. Her response to my letters regarding the war were incredibly stupid. This is something I will NEVER FORGET! Hillary was not doing her job as my representative when she failed to question what the heck Bush was doing. Instead she gave him the green light for war. H

No matter if you back Barack OBama or Hillary - here's the bottom line: Threatening Hillary Clinton or any candidate to drop out is immature & pathetic scare tactics. The mindset is so opposed to a truly democratic process it's scary. Thankfully Hillary isn't easily frightened by insecure bullies who make a mockery out of our free democratic process. When I speak to friends in other countries, they marvel at how wonderful this race has been. Obama has repeatedly said the only one to decide when Hillary drops out is Hillary. As brilliant a politician as Obama is I expect no less. Those who try to cut short a primary race embrace less choice, less freedom & fortunately don't represent the open nature of American politics or most importantly the American majority.

Some interesting polling numbers. I think, while Barack seems to have all but secured the nomination, it is still so close that for Hillary to drop out would be turning her back on all those who voted for and supported her. I don't like her increasingly negative campaign tactics, either. Best, Jesse

Not likely. She will lose by a wide margin in NC, as expected, and that will null any result from last night, when she certainly did well. But it wasn't well enough. This isn't a zero-sum game, and someone has to lose. The fact that she is and will be behind in the popular vote, the electoral vote, the national Democratic polls, the general election polls, you name it -- none of it bodes well for her.

Well, Manny...with the Pennsylvania blow-out, you'd better abandon any hopes of being a fortune-teller. She'll probably win Indiana next and the popular vote is closing fast which will advance her lead in superdelegates. She has a case. Obama has problems.

May I suggest you look to Gravel instead? He will be on the ballot come November and has faced much greater odds and opposition than has Senator Clinton.

Go Hillary Go. I look for a president who does not give up.

She certainly seems to be okay with tactics coming close to scorched-earth

Hillary is a power hungry scumbag.
