Cut to the Chase and Really Separate Church and State!

My National Anthem article has given us something to talk about on the liberal vs. conservative front. The War On Christmas. While I don't think there is an actual war being waged by a secretive group against Christmas and religious holidays, I do think that our "political correctness"
 and wish to, heaven forbid, offend someone will end up eliminating the holiday as we know it.

We have a new freedom in the United States. "Freedom From Being Offended." This is not a well known freedom and Norman Rockwell never did a painting of this. But it has been carefully preserved over the past 15 years or so. Apparently, people don't seem to get that we are offended sometimes by different things. This is THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR LIVING IN A FREE SOCIETY. They would rather give up the idea of living in a free society in exchange for "Freedom From Being Offended." Let's talk about what the ultra left calls "The Myth of the War on Christmas."

The War on Christmas is not started by any religious groups. I've worked for Jews. I've worked for Muslims. Both groups not only acknowledged Christmas, but said "Merry Christmas" to their employees, gave them parties and gifts. I don't think either group is offended at the idea of being told "Merry Christmas." Quite the opposite - they liked the holiday and respected religious differences.

Who is offended are those who are bent on taking away every last vestige of tradition in the country. Who hate religion, usually because it gives structure to some people and has a dividing line of right and wrong. Those who are anti religion usually don't want that dividing line at all. Religious rules don't coincide with their lifestyle so instead of adapting, they choose to not only deny the fact that religion plays a huge role in our lives and laws, like it or not and chip away at any mention of religion. Not any religion, though. Just Christianity.

My daughter is in high school. We have a strange situation in our high school. It is about 50 percent Muslim. We had a mosque built close to us and Muslims need to be close to their mosque. I'm not complaining - our property values skyrocketed even more than usual.

Michelle, I really do have a large ass. I've been told it's a ghetto booty. No worries. I don't have children of my own, but I borrow other people's on occasion. Kids ask, say and think the craziest things. It's amazing really!

I like to reread your articles because every time I read one I take something different from it. For example: I found the line, about this information coming from your daughter who thought oral sex could result in pregnancy, hilarious. I work in a casino, we're open 365 days a year, and I generally work every holiday. I got lucky on Christmas this year (had the day off) --- First Christmas I had off in 9 years. You know what the great thing was? I didn't have to deal with the people who drop their annoying relatives off, because they don't want to deal with those relatives.

Ah, I see where you're coming from and I really agree. A religion that strips rights the way Fantom Religion has been known to doesn't sit too well with me, but at the same time, like Christianity the roots of it are OK, it's just people tend to get extremist on you and go too far. It's too bad we can't all start from scratch without using the H Bomb, lol.

*(and I know a few Christians who are just super people but they are very few), but I don't see how extending the same respect for the religious beliefs of others that you demand from them is going to hurt you any. Plus, I don't see how making a holiday that should be all inclusive literally all inclusive is some kind of victory, nobody wants to take your holidays, that's paranoia - do you people really think there's a war going on? If so, I feel sorry for you. Once again, collective 'you', not speaking about anyone in particular. ;) I do agree, though, that every religion has extremists and every belief system has psychos, that's just the nature of humanity, but not every religion has such a hold over politics and world affairs and that's just dangerous. People who aren't Christian deserve rights, too, and shouldn't have to keep their beliefs to themselves or risk the chopping block.

Be honest with yourself, if you're like most people you'd tell me to get lost or listen 'politely' and then feel relieved when I finally left, hoping to God I never came back and having no intention of reading my literature. Now, as far as saying that what can arguably called the Bloodiest Religion in recent history isn't intollerant and predjudice, I'd like to say based on what? And if I were talking about preachers and extremists, that would be one thing, but I'm speaking of about 70% of all of the Christians I've ever met in my life, and I've met a lot of them. In fact, nearly everyone I've ever met is Christian. And, honestly, I've seen them do some horrible things including setting a gay boy's hair on fire during a youth seminar because he was a 'fag', thank the Gods he wasn't really hurt but still, hello - yikes! I'm sure they will publish it Michelle, you seem to be a big content maker for them and I don't forsee them gaining anything by shooting themselves in the foot any more than they already have with you! And no, I'm not glad that only Christians are represented in Politics, I think we could benefit from diversity. I'm not trying to tick you off, honey, I'm 100% for you speaking your mind and getting people talking about this because it really is an important discussion, but for there to be disscussion there should be voices from as many sides as possible. Plus, if you're going to say something one sided, especially in public, you have to expect that there will be people who won't agree with you, and as big a fan of your articles as I am I'm not going to blindly kiss your *ss, okay? As for Christians having "no tolerance" for other religious views, I'd say that assumption is wrong, because they have just as much tolerance for other dogma as non-believers do whenever someone tells them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Saying "Merry Christmas" does not exclude or belittle other faiths. As for Christian "bullying" of religious minorities, please don't make the ghastly error of including the average Christian in the same category as those power-seeking "preachers" who use Scripture as a way to further their political ends. Actually, calling everything "holiday trees" and "Winter break" does not bother me at all, because it is a hollow victory for the ones engineering that change; the celebration of Christmas and Easter can NEVER be removed from the Christian heart!

Well it's too bad you don't want to hear about it, because that's exactly what people need to hear. Christians have *no* tolerance for others, it's just a fact for most of the montheist community, and the ones that do practice tolerance complain about it. You can't push an arguement against other beliefs and then say, "You know what? I don't want to hear about the other side, because I know I'm right regardless of never having experienced it." I do, however, think that removing all religious holidays may be a good idea, because most Pagan holidays aren't represented unless their bastardized versions like Christmas and Easter, or observed but without the holiday actually getting time off from work like Halloween ( which is a religious holiday, actually, though not for my people. ). and we seem to do just fine without them. I don't see Christians and traditionalists loving that, though, and I've got the feeling that it would end the same way Prohibition did, lol.
