If you are looking for authentic traditional Japanese cuisine in Ocean County, you are in luck. The Jersey shore offers some of the best Japanese dining on the east coast. These are the best restaurants featuring Japanese cuisine in Ocean County, New Jersey.

Nobi, located at 1338 Hooper Avenue in Toms River, offers fine Japanese cuisine and an excellent sushi bar. Offering lunch and dinner hours, Nobi serves a wide selection of appetizers and entrees. Some of Nobi’s outstanding appetizers include Shumai (steamed shrimp dumplings), Yakitori (grilled chicken with bell pepper, onion and carrot), and Ika No Karage (deep fried marinated squid). Nobi’s combination plate lunches and dinners are reasonably priced, ranging from $8 to $20. I recommend Box B, which consists of shrimp and vegetable tempura, chicken teriyaki, California roll and white rice. Service is exceptional, and Nobi also offers catering. Call Nobi at (732) 244-7888.

Ikko is a hibachi steakhouse and sushi bar located at 107 Brick Plaza in Brick, New Jersey. Ikko’s hibachi dinner entrees are delicious. You can choose from shrimp, steak, swordfish, salmon, scallop, vegetables, chicken, shrimp, and my favorites, filet mignon and lobster tail. Bring your own bottle to enjoy drinks with your meal. Appetizers worth trying include Beef Negimaki (thinly sliced broiled beef rolled with scallion), Barbeque Squid with teriyaki sauce, and Grilled New Zealand Mussels. For their full menu and operating hours, visit Ikko’s website at www.ikkosteakhouse.com or call them at (732) 477-6077.
