Can an Honest Politician Win a United States Presidential Election?

Politicians generally begin their careers with starry eyes, and high hopes, however they're also usually hungry to move up the political ladder, gaining a bit more power with each, and every wrung climbed. I've no doubt they feel guilty about being dishonest, at least in the beginning. I'm sure each politician WANTS to honestly do the right thing, but they get bullied you know. Politicians, though we often don't remember, really are imperfect HUMAN BEINGS after all. Of course we Americans expect them to be perfect, which includes being perfectly honest, but seriously, is that even possible?

Let's take a brief look at John Edwards. Here we had a candidate whom to me seemed quite honest. Personally, I believe John Edwards was likely the most honest of the Democratic candidates, however, my current choice is Hillary. Why? Because I personally believe Hillary Clinton's time spent in the White House during her husband's presidential years, combined with her time spent as a NEW YORK Senator, are of much greater value to ME than anything any other candidate has offered, or has to offer, thus far. As for Barak Obama, I'm also considering him, as well.Though I really love John Edward's political aspirations, he simply seems a bit too honest, and a bit too green, at least for my taste anyway. I'm not saying his honesty is particularly a bad thing; it's just that his niceness sort of comes across as weakness, even if it's really not, at least from my perspective. I would however, love to see John Edwards placed on the Democratic ticket as the Vice Presidential candidate, along side whichever Democratic candidate receives the official nomination.
