I wake up to Mike and Mike in the morning Thursday and before I can get to the bathroom I hear that the Cowboys are looking into Adam "Pacman" Jones.

My only reaction is...

What are my Cowboys doing? Are they trying to repeat the mid 1990s?

Perhaps the Cowboys enjoyed the Gridiron Gang so much that they want to recreate it so they are running out and grabbing at every ex-con available. First it was Tank Johnson who had some issues in Chicago. In fact, he had so many issues that he was released from the team. The Bears were willing to take a defensive hit rather than keep him around. His impact in Dallas was minimal at best.

As laughable as this is, I agree with them. Pacman is only 24 years old and he has tremendous upside. He has lost a year of his career because of his behaivor and if it happens again then he will probably be out of the NFL for good. The Cowboys need serious help in the secondary as they were embarrassed when they played teams that could pass the ball effectively last year. Pacman could be a solid #2 or #3 corner on the team.

So the upside is there, but something else bothers me about this entire situation. The name Urbanski.

Urbanski was shot 4 times and left paralyzed from the waist down. His life was forever changed and no amount of money or material possessions can replace what he lost, yet Pacman moves on to the NFL with barely a scratch. Oh, sure, he was suspended for a year from the NFL, but is that really justice? Urbanski will never walk again because of what Adam Jones did that night. It is disgusting that the NFL would allow a person like this back in the league. Michael Vick is in trouble for his abuse of dogs and is justifiably in prison for it, but Pacman serves nothing?

If Pacman stays clean for 5 years what he did will be forgiven and most fans won't even remember it. Does anyone even remember that Leonard Little murdered a human being while driving a vehicle while intoxicated?

Good article and good point about fans forgetting off the field stuff if on the field play is great.
