There's no time that I look forward to more on the annual sports calendar than the NCAA Tournament. Maybe it's the prospect of the small school David springing the upset on Goliath. Perhaps it's filling out all of those office pool sheets every year. Whatever it is, there's nothing quite like it.

One of the things that make the NCAA Tournament memorable is the last minute heroics. In fact, we saw a last second shot for the ages just this year when Western Kentucky's Ty Rogers hit a fall-away three pointer with no time left on the clock in overtime to lead the Hilltoppers to a 101-99 overtime victory over Drake in the first round of this year's tournament. It's one of those moments that will live on in Sportscenter highlights for years to come and may even be remembered as one of the best final moments the tournament has ever seen.

Is Rogers shot one of the five best of all time? You could probably make that argument. Eventually, it may come to be remembered as that but I think the legend of a great final moment builds over time. His shot hasn't had the chance to build that legend yet.

The top last second shots should be instantly memorable. If you have to search the internet to try to find a list of the tournament's best shots that you can't remember, it probably doesn't belong at the top of the list. With apologies to Ty Rogers, the following five last second shots make the list as the most outstanding the tournament has seen.

#5 Tyus Edney, UCLA, 1995 2nd Round vs. Missouri - UCLA had earned a #1 seed in the tournament's West Region and were one of the favorites to take the championship. In the 2nd Round, however, Missouri was giving the Bruins all they could handle and more. Trailing by one with 4.8 seconds remaining, UCLA needed to drive the length of the court for the game. Edney took the inbounds pass, drove single-handedly to the other end of the court, and lifted a soft shot off the glass as time expired for the win. Edney's shot was even more significant considering that UCLA went on to win the NCAA Championship that season.
