According to a federal agent’s affidavit Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte and Miguel Tejada are among the six players that former Major League baseball player Jason Grimsley named as performance-enhanced drug users. Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte both defended themselves on Sunday.

“I just think it’s incredibly dangerous to sit out there and throw names out there,” Clemens said. Roger Clemens went on to say, “I’ve been tested plenty of times. My physicals I’ve taken, they have taken my blood work. I have passed every test. Again, I just find it amazing that you can throw anybody out there.”

In a separate interview Andy Pettitte also defended himself. “I’ve never used any drugs to enhance my performance in baseball. I don’t know what else to say except to say it’s embarrassing my name would be out there.

Also among the six players are two of Miguel Tejada’s teammates Brian Roberts and Jay Gibbons. All three Orioles denied any use of performance-enhanced drugs and their team stood by their players.

This all began in June when federal agents searched Jason Grimsley’s home in Arizona after Grimsley admitted to using human growth hormones, steroids, and amphetamines. Jason Grimlsey was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks, suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball and has not played in the Majors since. The 20 page search warrant affidavit said Jason Grimsley identified Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Miguel Tejada, Brian Roberts, Jason Gibbons, and David Segui as other players who had used performance enhancing drugs. Originally the names were blacked out on the document but someone with access to the affidavit released the information.

Roger Clemens? Okay. I'd hate it because I really love the idea of having watched the greatest pitcher of all-time. But Andy Pettitte? That would be a heart-breaker and is much more difficult for me to believe.
