If you like to do crafts, and you usually try to sell them at flea markets and such, there’s a few other things you can try to make selling the crafts a little easier. Although flea markets do a huge business around the holidays you have other options as well - some that will work even while you’re sitting at the flea market!

1) Ask at some of the local convenience stores to see if you can set up a display for small crafts. Many convenience stores feature holiday gifts of a small nature, like key rings, tiny teddy bears, coffee mugs and items that don’t require much space. You’ll be given the number of the main office, or regional manager, to call for making arrangements. He’ll talk to you about the amount of space you’ll need, whether or not you have your own stands (recommended), and how much you can cut the company in for on the profits. Set the prices for yourself as low as you possibly can to cover labor and materials, so you’ll have plenty of room for mark-up so you can cover the convenience store expenses.

2) As soon as you see lots being set up for selling Christmas trees, talk to the seller about setting up another table for selling your crafts. Some will charge you a daily/weekly rate for setting up the table - which you provide - or some will want a cut of the profits. Most will, however, agree to allow you to set up. Consider asking to pay a weekly rental fee for the table if you’ll be manning it, but plan on paying a portion of the profit if you want them to manage the sales. If you won’t be sitting with the goods, make sure you prepare an inventory list with prices, have him check off each item that’s sold, and - most importantly - have him show you his I.D. (Write down the info) before you leave him with your goods.
